Installing Pro Clan Manager
This user guide will take you through the steps of getting Pro Clan Manager on your website and getting it running.
Before you start you should check that the following requirements are met.
Your webserver should have version 4.x of PHP and MySQL. It is expected that anything lower then these requirements will not work.
You should know your MySQL details. MySQL is a Database that Pro Clan Manager uses to store all the website information on your clans site. With out MySQL Pro Clan Manager will not work.
Your MySQL details should include the following:
- MySQL Address
- MySQL Username
- MySQL Password
- MySQL Database Name
You will need this information to install Pro Clan Manager.
Chapter 1 - Downloading
To begin you will have to download Pro Clan Manager. You may notice that there are many different versions of Pro Clan Manager. It is best to always try and download the latest version.
From version 0.4.0 and onwards Pro Clan Manager uses three numbers to differentiate its packages (major.minor.maintenace). This means that whenever a version comes out where the last number is incremented it will be a fix to a problem in the project.
Chapter 2 - Extracting the files
If you have windows XP installed you should be able to right click on the file and it will open a new window with all the files in. If this does not work you might have to download an unzipping program.
A good program for this is called 7Zip its an open source program so it is free to use.
Chapter 3 - Upload the files to your webserver
Now you have the files on your computer but you will want to put them on your webserver. To upload the files you need what is called an FTP program. This program lets you put files on your website.
If you do not have a web host then you should be able to find plenty of free web hosting that Pro Clan Manager can run on.
If you have a web host but not an ftp program a good one to use is called FileZilla
Upload all the files inside the "UPLOAD" folder on to your website where you want Pro Clan Manager to be.
Chapter 4 - Installing Pro Clan Manager
So far we have downloaded the files and uploaded them to our website, now all we have to do is set up your database.
Load up your favourite web browser and type in the address of where you just uploaded the files. www.example.com/clansite/ for example. You will then be redirected to the install page.
Click on the flag which represents your language. From this point on there will be question marks that you can click on which tell you what to do. If you get stuck on a certain option click on these question marks and a window will appear which will help you further.
